Are you a creative and organized student interested in the arts and nonprofit marketing? The Center for Visual Artists (CVA) is seeking an unpaid Marketing Intern to support our marketing and communications efforts. This internship offers valuable, hands-on experience within a vibrant nonprofit visual arts organization.
Overview:
As the Marketing Intern, you will work closely with the Gallery Coordinator and CVA staff to help promote exhibitions, events, and programs. Key responsibilities include:
Creating and scheduling social media content
Promoting events and programs across platforms
Updating and maintaining website content
Designing flyers and promotional materials
Supporting audience engagement and storytelling initiatives
You’ll also complete a unique, independent marketing project aligned with your interests and CVA’s goals.

ABOUT THE POTTERY PROGRAM
The Center for Visual Artists offers a vibrant and welcoming pottery program designed for adult learners of all skill levels. Held in 5 8-week sessions throughout the year, these classes provide hands-on instruction in both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques. With class times available on multiple days—including Sunday afternoons and weekday evenings—participants can find a schedule that fits their lifestyle.
Each session fosters a collaborative studio environment where students learn from experienced instructors and one another. Whether you're a beginner exploring clay for the first time or an intermediate potter refining your skills, CVA’s pottery classes offer a supportive space to grow creatively.
ABOUT THE POTTERY INSTRUCTOR ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Ceramics Instructor to teach wheel-throwing, hand-building, and glazing to students of varying ages and skill levels. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, teaching experience, and a collaborative spirit.

The individual who will succeed and thrive in this role is an experienced art educator; excellent collaborator; organized time and resource manager; and, of course, an art enthusiast.
The Pottery Instructor role is a part-time, contracted teaching position in the Education Department of the Center for Visual Artists (CVA). Pottery Instructors are responsible for implementing appropriate art lessons for pottery students of all skill levels.
WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE
Class schedules vary by session and instructor availability. Pottery classes are typically 2.5 hours long, and workshops generally run for 3 hours. Instructors should also factor in additional time for preparation and cleanup before and after each session.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
All instructors at the Center for Visual Artists report to the Education Coordinator.
SCHEDULE/BENEFITS/SALARY RANGE
The pay scale for this role is between $17/hr- $20/hr depending on the candidate’s experience. CVA cannot offer healthcare or retirement benefits at this time. CVA employees are eligible for discounts on classes, camps, and artwork for sale.

ABOUT THE ART IN THE AFTERNOON (AITA) PROGRAM
The Art in the Afternoon program is a beloved community favorite! Art in the Afternoon is an after-school visual arts based childcare program for kids enrolled in kindergarten-5th grade. The program runs during the school year (August – June). The curriculum includes a variety of artistic media and creative techniques. Students will learn about art history and use what they learn to inspire their artworks.
AITA Program Schedule:
First arrivals: 2:30pm-2:45pm
Outdoor playtime for 1st arrivals
Snack & homework time for 1st arrivals
Sketchbook/free create
Second arrivals: 3:30pm-3:45pm

ABOUT THE ART IN THE AFTERNOON SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTOR ROLE
Instructor roles at the CVA are vital to our mission! CVA takes pride in providing the community with engaging, high-quality educational programming in the visual arts. The individual who succeeds in this substitute role will be an experienced and adaptable educator, a team player, an excellent communicator, and, of course, an enthusiastic supporter of the arts.
The Substitute Art in the Afternoon Instructor is a part-time, on-call teaching position within the Education Department of the Center for Visual Artists (CVA). Substitute AITA Instructors fill in as needed to lead CVA’s daily after-school, visual arts–based childcare program for children in grades K–5.
Substitute AITA Instructors are responsible for implementing prepared, age-appropriate art lessons and ensuring that each class provides a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. They will supervise students, support their creative exploration, and help them develop problem-solving skills and cultural awareness.
AITA Instructors will also:
Meet students as they arrive at CVA and ensure they arrive safely to the classroom
Prepare and distribute snack
Work cooperatively and professionally with staff members and parents
Attend staff meetings and trainings
WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE
CVA AITA Substitute Instructor schedule when called in is 2:00pm and 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Employees are compensated for work time that exceeds standard hours, if approved in advance by the Education Coordinator.

ABOUT THE SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM
Summer Camp at the CVA is a community favorite! Every summer the CVA offers a variety of visual arts-based camps for rising 1st – 12th graders. 3-5 different camps are held each week from June until August. The curriculum includes a variety of artistic media and creative techniques. Students will learn about art history and use what they learn to inspire their artworks.

The Summer Camp Instructor role is a part-time contracted teaching position in the Education Department of the Center for Visual Artists (CVA). Instructors are responsible for implementing age-appropriate art lessons for children (rising 1st-12th graders). Camp instructors are the primary supervisors in the classroom and ensure that students are having fun in a safe and welcoming environment while they explore their creativity, develop problem solving skills, and expand their cultural awareness.
Camp Instructors will also:
Meet students as they arrive at CVA and ensure they arrive safely to the classroom
Work cooperatively and professionally with staff members and parents
Attend staff meetings and trainings
WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE
CVA Summer Camp Instructor schedule is 7:45am – 3:15pm everyday they are scheduled to lead a camp. Employees are compensated for work time that exceeds standard hours, if approved in advance by the Education Coordinator.
